Deleting your data
Last updated
You can ask for your Vumble account and everything stored with it to be deleted. This applies however you signed in — by emailed link, with Google, or with Facebook.
How to ask
- Sign in the way you usually do.
- Open Settings and find Delete your account at the bottom.
- Tick the box and press Request deletion.
Settings then shows that your request is waiting. A person at Vumble carries out every request by hand — nothing is deleted automatically. Once it is done the account no longer exists, and signing in again with the same email starts a new, empty account.
What is deleted
- Your account, your email address and your handle.
- Anything Google or Facebook sent us when you signed in with them (your name and profile picture, which we never used).
- Your star ratings, and the age bands attached to them.
- Reviews you wrote, and your “helpful” votes on other reviews.
- Your library: saved titles and folders, including approved lists.
- Your settings: age bands, streaming services and household rules.
- If you applied as a critic: your application, credential details, evidence, and critic reviews.
Your ratings stop counting toward any score.
What is kept
- A record of the request itself — the account’s internal ID number, when you asked, and that it was carried out — so we can show the request was handled. It does not include your email or handle.
- Copies in our database provider’s backups, until those backups expire.
Watch mode’s timer settings live only in your own browser. Clearing your browser’s site data for Vumble removes them.
If you signed in with Facebook
Deleting your Vumble account does not remove Vumble from your Facebook settings. To do that, go to Facebook’s Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites and remove Vumble. Google’s equivalent is in your Google Account under Security → Your connections to third-party apps & services.
